Not long after arriving home from a very successful 2016 Rio Olympic Games four-time Olympic medalist Maya DiRado was honored with a key to Santa Rosa, California.

Mayor of Santa Rosa, John Sawyer, explained to San Francisco Gate that “it’s been 12 years since a Key to the city has been presented to anyone. I was extremely happy to have been able to present one to Ms. DiRado.”

DiRado, a graduate of Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa, won two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, competing in three individual events and one relay.

At a recent visit to her Alma Mater DiRado spoke to over 1,600 excited students about her experience in Rio and the ever-enchanting “What’s next?” question. While many have expressed hope that DiRado would keep on swimming after her success at the Olympic Games, she insists that what her medals–and what they represent– “are enough.”

DiRado continued by explaining, “the way that I was able to go out–you can’t go out with a better taste in your mouth than that.”

For now DiRado will continue speaking and making appearances in her post-Olympic down-time while also preparing for life in Atlanta, her new job at McKinsey & Co., and being on the look-out for a new puppy.
